David R. Orozco

30+ years of government service

Prior to forming his own company, Mr. Orozco spent over 20 years in the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) as a Special Agent. His most recent FBI assignment was a diplomatic position as Legal Attaché in Rome, Italy. For three years, he led an FBI team at the U.S. Embassy in Rome focusing on transnational criminal violations, counterintelligence, counterterrorism, and cyber investigations. As the FBI director’s representative, he was responsible for Italy, Malta, San Marino, and the Holy See.

In the position of Assistant Special Agent in Charge, Mr. Orozco was assigned to the New York Counterterrorism Division where he directed investigations. He also held the position of Unit Chief in the International Operations Division at FBI Headquarters in Washington, D.C. and oversaw the legal attaché offices in the UK, Canada, Australia, Mexico, Central America, South America, and the Caribbean.

Other assignments in the FBI included deployments with U.S. Special Forces to Afghanistan and Iraq conducting counterterrorism operations, developing intelligence, and investigating situations where U.S. citizens were taken hostage. Mr. Orozco served as a team leader in Libya for the 2012 terrorist attack on the U.S. Consulate in Benghazi, and as a team leader in Kenya for the 2012 Westgate Mall terrorist attack. Orozco was also a member of the FBI’s enhanced New York SWAT team for 11 years.

His professional awards include the FBI’s Medal of Valor, the FBI’s Exceptional Performance Award for Leadership, and the U.S. Department of Defense’s Joint Meritorious Civilian Service Award. Mr. Orozco was awarded an honorary degree from the Istituto Italiano Di Criminologia in Vibo Valentia, Italy for his many outstanding years in law enforcement.

Before entering the FBI, Mr. Orozco served in the U.S. military, and worked as a police officer. He is a graduate of Yale University.
